What is a Child Contact Centre?

 A Child Contact Centre is a safe, friendly and neutral place where children of separated families can spend time with one or both parents and sometimes other family members. They are child-centred environments that provide toys, games and facilities that reflect the diverse needs of children affected by family breakdown.

 
Kids in the Middle - New Dec 2008
‘Kids in the Middle’ is a unique national campaign launched by a partnership of family and parenting charities – Relate, One Parent Families/Gingerbread, Families Need Fathers and the Fatherhood Institute – to help tackle the lack of support for children and parents trapped in the misery and turmoil of family breakdown.

Changes to the LSC Funding Code Guidance - New Dec 2008
The Legal Services Commission (LSC) has recently carried out a consultation in relation to proposals to remove public funding for all assessments for supervised contact. We have been advised that the outcome of this consultation is to withdraw said funding, taking effect from April 2009.

Regional training for Child Contact Centres
Planning is underway – details will be available shortly. Meetings start 30th March and run until 2nd July 2009.
 
Co-ordinator training for supported centres

Aimed at coordinators and their deputies, this training is in four units, Referrers, Families, Staff and Management and also Funding and Publicity.

Accreditation

Accreditation recognises the work that NACCC Child Contact Centres do and the high level of service that they offer. Accreditation means that the Centre is working to the NACCC National Standards for Child Contact Centres and has successfully completed a portfolio of evidence, which has been assessed as proof they have achieved these Standards.
